This is a blog started out documenting my applying to, getting into and attending graduate journalism school. I applied to the graduate schools of journalism at Columbia University, University of Missouri, Northwestern University, and New York University. I was accepted by all except for Columbia, where I was waitlisted and eventually rejected. I will be attending Medill at Northwestern and graduated in December 2010 with a focus on broadcast journalism–with the end goal of working in documentary production.
On a personal level–I enjoy doing sit-ups competitively, fighting crime at night with my bare knuckles and wit, modeling, and teaching poetry to kids in my neighborhood. At present, I’m freelancing and looking forward to the next step in my career–meaning, I’m unemployed. I am a graduate of The Ohio State University and spent a semester in Madrid in 2006. You can read about all my exploits of my first go-round in the travel blog I kept during that time over at travelblog.com
In 2007-08, I taught English in an elementary school in Madrid, Spain, and found my calling when I began writing for an English-language publication. I figured I needed to be a self-starter in order to make something good happen in my life–and that’s brought me here.
Now, about getting paid to do all this…

That should suffice. Enough about me. What about you?
